Benzoin of Sumatra Resin Incense

Pure benzoin resin from the Styrax benzoin tree of Sumatra, with nothing added. On charcoal it burns warm, sweet and balsamic. Benzoin has been a cornerstone of church incense for centuries, and it is still a major ingredient in the incense of Catholic and Orthodox services.

How to burn

Set a pea-sized piece or a pinch of powder on a lit charcoal disc in a sand-filled bowl. Benzoin melts and burns fast, so a small square of foil on the charcoal slows it down. Burn in a ventilated room and never leave hot charcoal unattended.
